Current Status

It's been 19 years since Steve and Mark launched this site.

A lot of people have signed up in the UK and a lot of people been in touch from abroad, from the Netherlands to Australia to California. Everyone thinks it's great idea.

Not a single job has been swapped.

Why not?

We think the main reasons for this are:

• Uncertainty of the new job. People are concerned that they don't really know what they're getting into, what the new job will involve etc.
• Uncertainty of the new employee. From the employer's side, is the new person going to be as good as the one they are replacing?
• Paranoia. On both sides, there is a degree of paranoia that this is a means to either dump a job someone hates, or dump an employee who doesn't pull their weight.
• Legal. There are issues over pensions, employment rights (especially when related to length of service), accrued vacation rights, retirement, and conditions of employment in general.

We are still convinced that this has to be a good idea, it's just that its time has not yet come.
